Leipzig's most famous pub district is located in the area around the Barfußgässchen. A stroll along the Drallewatsch is an absolute must.
The Barfußgässchen was founded in 1996 by two dozen Leipzig pubs and bears the name Drallewatsch. Drallewatsch is an original Saxon word and means "to experience something" and "to stroll from pub to pub".
In the oldest part of the city, you can also get an impression of how densely built-up the city center used to be. Historic buildings from the Renaissance, Baroque and Wilhelminian periods stand side by side. Here in Barfußgasse, Fleischergasse and Klostergasse, you will find many restaurants with a wide variety of offers - from home-style restaurants to trendy pubs.
