Road biking through the Meißner Highlands

The route starts in Dresden right in the old town at Theaterplatz. We ride along the Terrassenufer towards the Elbe, turn left onto the Elbe cycle path, and follow it on the left bank northwest towards Meissen. We pass through the Dresden district of Gohlis, ride past the beautiful windmill on the Elbe cycle path, and follow the signs further towards Meissen.

Shortly after Niederwartha, we leave the Elbe cycle path to the left and follow the signs to Constappel. Here we take the Langen Weg. We keep climbing, pass through the village of Kleinschönberg, and then turn right onto Hühnorfer Straße towards Sachsdorf. The route then leads us straight ahead to Klipphausen. We follow Bergstraße and Soraer Straße until at the next larger intersection we turn right onto "An der Silberstraße." We follow the cycle path to Taubenheim, turn right onto the main street, then left onto "Am Birkenwald" to continue on the cycle path. Then, to the left, we continue along Kobitzscher Weg alongside the Kleine Triebisch, on the beautiful cycle paths of the former narrow-gauge railway and along the Jagdsteig to Semmelberg. Here we briefly turn left onto the main street, but immediately turn right onto Neurobschützer Straße in the next village, Robschütz, which leads us left again into the forest on the cycle path.

We continue on this path to Löthain, pass through the villages of Mehren and Pröda, then turn right towards Wachtnitz. Here we turn right following the Ketzerbach to Prositz and Piskowitz, leaving these villages on the left and follow the Meißner 8 cycle path down to the Elbe. Turning right, we follow the Elbe cycle path through Keilbusch until we finally arrive in Meissen. Here there is time and opportunity for a break! Anyone who feels like it can turn right into the old town and enjoy time at one of the many restaurants in the historic city center. The ride continues over the old town bridge to the right bank side and immediately turns right onto the Elbe cycle path. We follow this in the direction of Dresden to Sörnewitz.

Here we leave the cycle path to the left, briefly ride along Dresdner Straße again to the left towards Meissen, and immediately turn right onto Boselweg. Here we see the Boselspitze rising prominently from the landscape right in front of us. We ride Boselweg up to Langer Graben, turn right to Köhlerstraße, and roll on to Neusörnewitz. We turn left onto Förstereistraße and follow it to the train station. After crossing the tracks straight ahead, we follow Köhlerstraße through Weinböhla until we turn right into "Rote-Kreuz-Straße" passing through the Heimatdank settlement.

We then continue straight along Spitzgrundstraße into the neighboring village Coswig, passing the famous Matyas winery, along Steinweg and Paulsbergweg to "Mittlere Bergstraße" — following the wine route to Radebeul. Below the vineyards, we cross Schloss Wackerbarth and then turn right onto "Moritzburger Straße," continue across the town along Bahnhofstraße to reach Altkötzschenbroda. Here too, restaurants and wine taverns invite you to rest.

The ride continues on the Elbe cycle path, which we take left towards Dresden. We do not leave this path until we rediscover Dresden’s old town. The route ends with the crossing over Augustus Bridge back to the start at Theaterplatz.
