Note: The Frohnauer Weg mining educational trail is a circular route, so entry is possible individually along the route.
According to the route description, the hike begins at Markus-Röhling-Stolln. Passing the mine entrance and historic mining technology, the Pochzeugweg leads up to the mining smithy and horse whim of the Markus-Röhling shaft. On weekends there is the possibility to stop at the Markus Röhling smithy.
The path continues towards Schreckenberg to the turning point of the deposit "Eisernes Schaf" and then follows the Markus-Röhling path past the 10,000 Knights mine entrance to the famous Frohnauer Hammer. At the Frohnauer Hammer, the trail turns right into Albertstraße towards Dörfel. Passing old miner's houses and the Himmelfahrt deposit, you reach Krönung/Malwine. There, a detour to the Schreckenberg ruin with a wonderful view of Annaberg is worthwhile.
The path then leads towards the nature conservation center past mountain meadows and fields to the edge of the Sauwald. Here you turn right and reach the starting point at the Markus-Röhling-Stolln visitor mine.
TIP: Complete the hike with a visit to the Frohnauer Hammer and the Markus-Röhling-Stolln visitor mine!
The hike is marked with hammer and pick on a yellow background.
