This section of the European long-distance path leads through the forested areas of the Vogtland - mostly along the Erzgebirge-Vogtland ridge route and the Way of St. James.

At the three-country corner Bavaria-Saxony-Bohemia, you encounter the history of the decades-long division of Germany and Europe. Hike through the former border area to Triebel and discover the venerable, restored fortified church. Over ridges and beautiful coniferous forests, you reach the town of Oelsnitz/Vogtland with the Tourist Information in the Zoephelsches House in the Elster valley. Then visit Voigtsberg Castle.

The hike then leads over Tirpersdorf to the "Balcony of Vogtland" to Schöneck, a well-known holiday and winter sports center with many attractions, accommodations, and restaurants. After a few kilometers, the Muldenberg reservoir offers a worthwhile stop.

Along the ridge, it continues to Mühlleithen, a popular resort at 2,790 feet (850 m) altitude. Enjoy the beauties of the Erzgebirge-Vogtland Nature Park. Your detour to the Topaz rock Schneckenstein with the "Grube Tannenberg" visitor mine is worth it.

In Morgenröthe, you can rest at the former blast furnace or visit the German-German space exhibition. After a few kilometers towards Carlsfeld, you finally reach the Erzgebirge.
