Route starting from the Riedelmühle hiking parking lot:
From the parking lot, the path leads into the Weida valley past an information board. We cross the road between Kleinwolschendorf and Pahren towards the gauge house. From here, we have a view of the stone embankment dam of the forebay. On the shore path, we walk to the Poetenweg junction. From here, you can reach the community of Langenwolschendorf and the old water house in the valley at the edge of the forest by the village. Converted into a species protection tower, it is equipped so that bats, tawny owls, gray wagtails, common redstarts, and hornets have taken up residence there. From this path, you also reach the forest spring with a resting place.
Continuing along the shore, we recognize the original course of the Weida river with an island where swans and water birds regularly breed. To the right, the Talsperrenweg passes through a wetland area directly to Läwitz. The landmark of the village is the stone arch bridge over the Weida, built in 1925 and protected as a historic monument since 1977. Next to the bridge is the Kesselmühle, one of the few water mills not flooded by the construction of the dam (from there you can continue to follow the Weidatalweg up to the spring). After crossing the historic stone arch bridge, we pass the resting place with an information board at the entrance to Läwitz. Following the Talsperrenweg further, after about 1.5 km, we reach the dam of the forebay. The way leads us over the road on the dam, past the inlet structure, back to the starting point.
