The route offers geological special features, wonderful long-distance views, adventurous sections on the steep slope, and a detour to the forest town of Tharandt.

The path leads over the striking Backofenfelsen. The geological natural monument shows an outcrop of the sediment series of the Rotliegend. From its plateau, there is an impressive view over the Weißeritz valley between Tharandt and Freital and the ascent to the lower eastern Ore Mountains. It continues to Opitzhöhe, which is geologically the northeasternmost elevation of the Ore Mountains. From there, there is an excellent view of the Elbe valley and the Ore Mountain edge with Quohrener Kipse, Wilisch, and the striking Luchberg. In good visibility, Geising and Kahleberg as well as the table mountains of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains can also be seen. After descending into the forestry town of Tharandt, the return path leads via the adventurous Brüderweg on the southern steep slope of the Weißeritz valley back to the starting point.
