Circular hike with nature trail character (climate, forest, charcoal burning) around the Sosa reservoir with beautiful views from the dam of the reservoir and Auersberg

Already about 400 m after the parking lot, the Sosa reservoir is reached and there is a very beautiful wide view over the water surface up to Auersberg (3.5 km as the crow flies). After another 400 m above the reservoir shore, you are already standing on the 200 m long dam made of broken granite stones from the quarry at the parking lot. A short climb follows to the side wing and on this the circular route leads left around the reservoir initially to the bridge over the Kleine Bockau, the natural inflow of the reservoir. About 1 km before reaching this point (also called Hänelwehr), a small brook rushes down like a miniature cascade and additionally leads water from a hillside trench from Oberwildenthal around the Auersberg to the reservoir. From Hänelwehr the forest path is paved and leads 2.6 km north past the arboretum and experiential charcoal burning site back to the starting point. Along the way, there are numerous information boards and interactive elements about climate and forest, charcoal burning as well as water and forestry management.
