Action Days at Rochlitzer Berg: Virtual Time Travel into the Quarry A glimpse into the depths: 60 meters deep into the Gleisberg quarry – the deepest quarry of Rochlitzer Berg. The reddish-violet porphyry tuff with its golden-yellow veins tells of centuries of hard work and is today Germany's first "Heritage Stone". With Virtual Reality, this story comes to life. At the Geoportal Porphyrhaus, located right by the Gleisberg quarry, VR glasses await curious visitors. One push of a button – and you're right in the middle of the former quarry, experiencing the everyday life of the workers and virtually mining the Rochlitzer porphyry tuff yourself. On action days, fixed time slots can be booked, and on Tuesdays and Fridays, the experience is also available spontaneously during opening hours (10 AM – 3 PM). Cost: 6 euros for a 15-minute time travel.
