The Advent season in particular stands for contemplative get-togethers: People do handicrafts, make lace, bake, celebrate and sing. The team from Makers, Business and Arts, a flagship or lighthouse project of Chemnitz 2025, is taking up this approach and inviting people to the Maker Advent for the first time. Numerous workshops, associations, artists and creative minds will be offering a wide range of hands-on activities, which will be visualised in a comprehensive brochure.
This is why the upcoming Capital of Culture Info Café on 29 November 2023 at the Chemnitz 2025 GmbH office will also be dedicated to the pre-Christmas period and the Maker Advent. You can try out some of the hands-on activities on site, such as making wooden magnets with the Holzkombinat or designing Maker Christmas postcards. On 3 December, a Maker Advent event will also take place in the region: at the Lehngericht in Augustusburg, one of the creative centres, the so-called Maker Hubs, which are being created as part of Chemnitz 2025.

This campaign aims to motivate citizens to create their own products beyond consumption and to learn new (craft) skills in the process. The courses and workshops help to strengthen the maker mentality and a sense of community while also inspiring guests in the city and region for local traditions and cultural heritage.
