This hike takes us from Freital-Coßmannsdorf along the Red Weißeritz through the Rabenauer Grund to Spechtritz. We then return to Freital on the historic Weißeritztalbahn.

The Rabenauer Grund is the most famous gorge in the Ore Mountains foothills. In this 80 m deep incised valley, many beautiful rock formations as well as a unique flora and fauna can be found. For example, the fire salamander lives here. On our way, we pass the historic Rabenauer Mill, which today houses a hotel and a restaurant.
In 1882, the Weißeritztalbahn was put into operation as the second narrow-gauge railway in Saxony. Today, it operates daily as the oldest narrow-gauge steam railway in Germany between Freital-Hainsberg and the spa town of Kipsdorf.
