On the second weekend of Advent - from 6 to 8 December 2024 - the annual Advent festival takes place in the Christmas light of Bad Elster around the beautiful pyramid on the central bathing area and in the KunstWandelhalle. There will be pre-Christmas hustle and bustle with the lovely scents of Advent, a programme of events for young and old will offer a variety of Advent festival experiences and Bad Elster will shine in a unique world of royal lights.
The event kicks off on Friday at 4.00 pm with the "pushing of the pyramid" by the fountain queen, the daycare children and the mayor on the bathing area. As part of the Advent festival, a wide range of attractions will invite guests to enjoy Advent delights over the weekend and various music ensembles will provide a musical backdrop to the festival. This year, in addition to the colourful entertainment programme on the bathing area with acoustic concerts and brass band music at the pyramid, the Christmas coach will of course also be back in Bad Elster. In addition, a model railway layout of the Plauen 1948 model railway club will be presented exclusively in the KunstWandelhalle with the Vogtland route Untermarxgrün - Bergen. There will also be a "gnome workshop" for painting ceramics, a "chaos children's circus" on Saturday afternoon and a Christmas fairy tale hour on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday evening, the popular "Aprés-Party" around the pyramid will once again provide Christmas fun on the bathing area. When night falls, the Königliche Anlagen Bad Elster will once again be transformed into a glittering world of lights with gleaming historical buildings and park areas. Guests can then also discover the beauties of Bad Elster in atmospheric locations via illuminated promenade paths - an Advent stroll in a sparkling play of lights!
The festive Christmas weekend is rounded off with special experiences in the König Albert Theatre: on Friday there is the popular "Nikolaussingen" (06.12.), on Saturday Tom Gaebel swings (07.12.) and on Sunday the two top TV stars Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup celebrate "The Christmas Story" as an entertaining stage fairy tale (08.12.).
